✅ We have a systematic and Individualised way to increase your running capacity gradually and safely.

✅ Combining a running plan with running specific agility and strength exercises as well as running drills to improve your performance and technique.

✅ Running Assessment required for all new participants of the program.

🔸 A Running Assessment is required for all new participants of the program. If you are an existing patient of Higher Function but have not yet had a Running Assessment, you will need to do so. See our Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist for a 75min Running Assessment that involves a musculoskeletal assessment and strength and mobility testing. Then jump on the treadmill for a biomechanical assessment of your running technique using video analysis.

The running program will be led by our experienced Physiotherapist Ashley Currall and Exercise Physiologists, Georgia Ferguson and Nicola Pithers, who are also experienced runners!

Program details
  • All sessions are claimable from most Private Health Insures. Running Assessment (item code 500), Running Sessions + Classes (Item code 502 with EP or 561 with physio).
  • 90 min Running Assessment
  • 20 x Run Sessions
  • 10 x Run Strength Classes

Tues 5:30pm Run Session: Running drills, interval runs, self-paced (at Rond Terrace, bottom of ANZAC Pde)

Wed  5:30pm Strength Class: Running specific strength class to prevent injury, improve biomechanics and performance (at Higher Function Physio & Pilates)

Fri 7:00am Run Session:  Running drills, interval runs, self-paced (at Rond Terrace, bottom of ANZAC Pde)

 

Prerequisites for program
  • Must be able to walk around lake Burley Griffin (bridge to bridge 5km) in under an hour and be able to walk up and down Mt Ainslie or Black Mtn without too much difficulty.
